Sunday, February 16 Sundays with the Coen brothers: The Big Lebowski
THE BIG LEBOWSKI (1998). The Coens’ most quotable film, this unique project filters a Chandleresque mystery through the perpetually stoned perspective of Jeff Bridges’ “the Dude.” A cult favorite whose reputation has only grown.
Sunday, February 23 Sundays with the Coen brothers: Fargo
FARGO (1996). A surprisingly mainstream success for the Coens, this “homespun murder story” stars Joel Coen’s wife Frances McDormand as a dogged Minnesota police chief. It won Oscars for Best Picture, Actress and Original Screenplay.
Sunday, March 1 Sundays with the Coen brothers: No Country for Old Men
NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN (2007). Another favorite with fans, critics and Oscar voters, this movie spotlights some of the Coens’ consistent interests – small-town crime, neo noir, eccentric characters and a grim sense of inescapable fate.
